In 2010, there are 308 million people in the United States. Roughly 65 million or 21% reside in rural or small town America. Almost half (49.1%) live in suburban or exurban communities, while 92 million residents, comprising 30% of the population, live in the urban core of our nation’s large cities. About 25% of those living in rural areas are People of Color.
