Women With A Vision (WWAV) takes the lead in the fight against the state of Louisiana's: "200-year-old crimes against nature statute, which overturned a requirement that people convicted of soliciting oral and anal sex to register as 'sex offenders,' while people convicted of 'prostitution' do not have to register" (Woodward, 2012).

This is a landmark case in the decriminalization of LGBTQ+ communities, especially trans Women of Color, who were targeted under this statute.

WWAV will experience major consequences for their leadership in this fight, including having their offices torched.
