It is founded with a commitment to lift up the "healing in justice and the justice in healing." Along with Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarsinha, the People's Movement Center (PMC) opens by co-organizing a national event called Healing Justice for Black Lives Matter.

The center provides a range of individual and collective care practices at occupation sites, and in their own space. The PMC will close in 2019.
