Ten thousand indentured servants are kidnapped from England and sent to the colonies. Some are convicted criminals, but many of them are children living in poverty who are forced onto ships to provide labor for the new colonies. Many white communities living in poverty today in Appalachia and/or the South (or some parts of the Northeast) are descended from these indentured servants.
