The Indian Wars will last until the late 19th century as settler-colonists begin to expand from the eastern coasts westward.

The U.S. government recognizes over 120 wars with Native communities, with the last “official” "Indian" war identified as the Apache Wars in 1924–302 years after the Jamestown Massacre in 1622. This “official” survey does not include the Wounded Knee uprising; the occupation of Alcatraz; nor the battles over treaty rights that have not yet stopped, including the recent battle over the Keystone Pipeline, the Enbridge Pipeline, and other land and treaty fights through direct action and in the courts. This also doesn't refer to the over 500 treaties that have since been broken by the U.S. government.
