African and Native people fleeing enslavement and colonization establish at least 50 communities.

These communities are spread throughout the South and are composed of Africans and Natives who liberated themselves from enslavement and colonialism. These liberated zones provide a safe haven for community. They also serve as launching points for attacks against plantations and the colonial military in order to free more enslaved Africans.
