A paper published in the Annals of the Association of American Geographers finds that American Indian and Alaskan Native households are close to four times more likely than white households to lack adequate indoor plumbing, and African-American households are 1.2 times more likely than white households of similar economic situations to lack safe and adequate plumbing.
