Studies show that people with disabilities are two to three times more likely to die from COVID-19 than "able-bodied" people. While vaccines were available earlier for people with a select group of "pre-existing conditions," disability justice activists call out these protocols as not adequately addressing the complexities of vaccine access for all people with disabilities, nor the long-term impacts of long COVID-19.
