This once again brings to light the ongoing discrimination against adults and children who are neurodivergent (and/or live with developmental disabilities) and are seen as ineligible for medical transplants.

The Director of Medical Ethics for New York University claims: "If the potential recipient is severely intellectually impaired, or is basically almost in a coma, I do not think it makes sense to consider that child for a transplant either" (Caplan, 2012).
