National civil rights groups and hundreds of doctors call on federal government to release race/ethnicity data for COVID-19 deaths. Their letter points to provisions in Title VI of the Civil Rights Act and the Affordable Care Act that prohibit health care providers “from using federal funds to administer healthcare services that discriminate on the basis of race, color, or national origin" (Lawyer's Committee, 2020).
